During our comprehensive aerodynamic study of Model 3, we tested the efficacy of our Front Lip Spoiler using CFD, and the results were very interesting!
After installation of our Front Lip Spoiler, a decrease of 6.6% in total vehicle drag resulted, with a reduction of the total vehicle drag coefficient by 0.015. In addition to the decrease in drag, an increase of 35.4% of front downforce was seen.
As many performance driving enthusiasts may know, increases to front downforce help to improve front mechanical [tire] grip, resulting in improved steering wheel feel and response.
The lip is produced in a rugged impact resistant polymer, designed to take impacts and bounce back.
DO I NEED A CERTIFIED TESLA BODYSHOP TO INSTALL?
You can of course use a Tesla certified bodyshop. However we have designed this (and all of our exterior parts) to be able to be installed with basic tools by any professional bodyshop. There is no specific Tesla tools or knowledge required to install. The only requirement for install is the ability to know how to use basic tools in combination with reading and following instructions thoroughly.
HOW MUCH IS INSTALL AND PAINTING LIKELY TO BE?
This will vary widely based on labour rates in your part of the country and choice of bodyshop. We regularly get feedback from body shops that our product quality exceeds their expectations. However as a baseline, we suggest inquiring with a local shop you trust to ask for a quote. If you are curious of a ballpark price, an extremely generic ballpark pricing would be approximately £300-600 for paint and install on your Model 3.
